well games based off movies suck alot, but i thought, that a movie based on something like guildwars, would be cool. Alot of the areas and scenery is cool, and the story of the main original game was kinda cool. Unless everyone else is just being judgemental. I mean most people here have either played, or at least seen enough of the game. I actually see the story played out either with real people or maybe computer generated like Advent children

I understand you'd like to see all the lovely cinematics played out by real actors, but keep in mind that despite the many cinematics throughout the game, most of it still consists of us whapping things with our weapons with no dialogue other than an NPC telling us where to go or the random insults shouted by our heroes/henches. Any Guild Wars movie would have to be "based on" the video game, and that's how games with relatively good stories end up as mind numbing 2 hour barrages of explosions, boobs, and one liners.

It's not that your idea is bad, it's just video game based movies are horrible, as its been said multiple times in this thread. There are no suggestions that can make it a good suggestion.

People thought the exact same about (insert video game based movie here), but (insert video game based movie here) flopped, just like a Guild Wars movie would.

Default Good Idea

I've had a few dreams were I've seen my self fighting Abadon. The shit is scary more like nightmares. But its turns out epic. I'm a monk who not just heals but also do martial arts and and use Shadow steps i teleport to abbadons head and start pounding his face. Then a tentacle stabs me in the back. I use something similar to Remove condition but it looks nothing like the game its starts healing my flesh slowly like picolo in DBZ. Then out of no where Abbadons body is visible i creep out and wake up.

yes i woke up and wrote it down right away after a few day i got in 3ds Max and started modeling my self. Now I'm working on Abbadon wish its a pain the Textures are taking a long time to draw out. ^^

I would not mind seen a guild wars movie just as long as it has nothing to do with the original game plot.

A guild wars movie would be good, but our expectations would be so high that we'd imagine the movie as ANET's "shiny" trailers

Although as long as it doesn't strictly follow the ingame plots and has some variety, I can bet it will be good.
GW has some good story writers and lore, but the developers are bad at implementing it sometimes... Sorry Regina, it is the truth :<

I don't want a GW movie. But I am not at all opposed to a few GW Novels.

BRING ON THE LITERATURE.

Games just translate into books so much better.

And to the guy above me, The Spirits Within was a good movie. Boo hoo it was traditional FF. You probably didn't like it cause no body had any hair (lol).

Games into movies is what lazy people want. And they always get high expectations. Not to mention, Games, especially games like Guild Wars, are too "free-roaming" (you can do whatever you want really) to put into a good movie. At least, what we experience in game. I can only see a game becoming a movie, not even a good one at that, if it is based on background info or future events (like how Advent Children was based after FF7, not during).

Of course, I cannot see anything being turned into a movie well, except maybe comics. TV show might work, but not for games like GW. Again, too "free-roaming."

But the GW games would make grand books. I'm sure. I know I'm waiting for the three books to come out whenever they do. I hope it's before GW2.

Games made into animated movies don't bother me as much, no I never seen the pokemons thank god. But I think Advent Children was pretty damn good, and if I remember correctly I think I liked Final Fantasy the Spirits Within, though I haven't seen that in years.

Wasn't a fan of Mortal Kombat, though I thought Tomb Raiders were alright and Resident Evil was pretty good.

Though I agree I'd like to see a diablo movie before a gw one. Particularly one that showed Tyriel being tricked by Izeal to use the soulstones and Tal Rasha sealing the prime evils. That movie would kick ass even if all it ended up being was

Stop coddling the foo. WE MUST GOUGE EVIL FROM IT'S SHELL. And this idea is definitely evil. It's so bad it sucks the... wow, I have possibly the best joke ever for this, and yet I'll never be able to tell it because I'll get banned so fast.

But this idea sucks. A movie about GW? Yay, I get to see another game that I enjoyed turned into something that I am entirely embarrassed about!

2 things

1. Final Fantasy: the spirits within - remove the Final Fantasy brand, and it's actually a decent CGI movie.

2, watch "In the name of the King", and if they did that to Dungeon Siege which were the "spiritual" ancestor to GW(to me anyway), No thanks to the GW movie.

Guild Wars movie = worst movie ever. Nobody would watch a movie about a video game MMO RPG, it would just be stupid.

Off topic: why do you post almost every other post Zyrell? Are you just trying to rack up the posts? More than half of your posts didn't need to be made.

The problem is Uwe Boll. He did all the game movies, because he guarantees that the films will lose money and so be usable as tax-writeoffs, and they all suck, because he's completely batshit insane.

wasnt there a huge thread on this already? im not up for the idea, if they do they shouldnt release it at the cinema. It should be like the animated trailer or similar to the final fantasy films.

Ask him, he knows PERFECTLY how to adapt a game to movie.

Apart from the joke above, My idea would be split in 3 or 4 Movies (one for each campaign following the stories). It would require lots of money, time and filming. Or an other idea would be the tyrian story and gwen with some " # years later parts".
